This Year's Goal
I've never really been much of a runner. I've managed to push my way to decent running times over previous races, usually with minimal training. But throughout the years, I've always had a mental block about running over 8km. And I have no idea why.
However, that's gonna have to change. I just signed up for the Energy Capital Alberta Open 21.1K Run, my first half-marathon, taking place on August 17.
I started training officially two weeks ago. Doing the math, if I run 11.5 km this weekend, and add 500m every week until August, I'll be pretty near the race distance. Of course, I'd like to add some other training in during the week, probably focusing on hills and speed (though not both at the same time).
