What's New
Hola, amigos. I know it's been a long time since I rapped at ya, but I been trying to keep myself dry in the shitstorm, you know?
So it's 2008. What's happened since the last exciting episode of MHiO? Well....
YMCA Trouble
At 2am in the morning of the Head Shave, vandals broke into the school that Helen worked at, setting fires and causing all sorts of vandalism. Damage is estimated at $1M. So that put a damper on what was a great day.
Engineering Head Shave
The 4th Annual Engineering Head Shave was on November 30, 2007. This marks what should be the last year of my involvement in the event. This year, our goal was to raise at least $29,000, in order to break the $100,000 mark in total funds raised.
The event went as well as always. It was well run, professional, and successful. The only blip was that we only found out how much we had on hand that day, ~$21,000. The last I've heard however, is that we're at approximately $47,000 raised, with donations still coming in!
Christmas
Christmas was fun. Ate too much, drank too much, spent too much. So, the usual. Spent a lot of time with friends from out of town, which was great. The 22nd-24th was spent in Calgary with Helen's family, and after that was back in Edmonton for a marathon of meals.
On the 27th, we held our annual tackle football game, and first event in the inaugural Racial Olympics. So it was the white guys vs. the non-white guys, and after a two-hour match and two shoulders popped out, we called it at a tie. Good times.
Merch
I bought a TV. Not for the price shown now, but I'm loving it. Next year, I'll get a decent sound system.
Also, I won a hockey stick signed by Hemsky. Sweet, eh?
